Luke Sobota is an experimental filmmaker and visual storyteller based in Toronto, Ontario, and has been creating films for over 15 years. Their work fuses analog and digital media, with a focus on narrative shorts incorporating direct film animation, stop motion, and 16mm filmmaking. Their films explore memory, consciousness, and the surreal, often incorporating tactile visual elements and multidisciplinary collaboration. 

Beyond their artistic work, Luke is also an experienced commercial producer and alongside filmmaker Danny Pham co-founded SOEZ Productions, a creative media company producing PSA campaigns, government-funded commercials, and branded video content. With SOEZ, Luke has helped direct a series of PSAs for the Government of Ontario, including accessibility-focused spots for BALANCE for Blind Adults.

Luke brings a collaborative spirit and deep commitment to impactful storytelling in all its forms, whether working behind the camera as a director, cinematographer, or assistant. They bring a deep respect for process and community to every project. Their work has screened in Toronto cinemas and festivals, earning accolades and support from arts institutions across Ontario. Luke received their BFA in Film Production from York University.
